Cable Saver Up-Right Kit

The Cable Saver Up-Right Kit attaches to the end of a galvanized cradle beam. Its purpose is to keep the cable and block (if compounded) from going into the water every time you lower your boat into the water. The flat-end of the saver mounts to the opening of the endplate with the 9/16 in. x 1 3/4 in. hex head bolt, 9/16 in. galvanized lock washer, and 9/16 in. galvanized nut. The rounded end is where you attach the 2 ton galvanized shackle to the cable or block if needed. It prolongs the life of the boat lift cable and the block.

Made from hot-dipped galvanized steel. Features 9/16 in. machine-punched mounting holes. One mounting hole per end of the cable-saver. Measures 40 in. long x 2 1/2 in. wide. 3/8 in. metal thickness. Allows the cradle to stay submerged without having your cable in the water.

Galvanized Steel

Galvanized steel is created by dipping standard steel into molten zinc by a process called hot dipping. The layer of zinc serves as a protectant from corrosion. The protectant makes galvanized steel the best option for seawater environments. Galvanized steel typically has a rough surface and can vary in color. There is no uniform finish for this type of steel.

Galvanized steel is ideal for marine environments because of its protective layer over carbon steel. Stainless steel will react with salt water resulting in rust. The zinc layer on galvanized steel prevents this reaction.  A downfall for this defensive measure is that the protective layer can be corroded or fade over time. This is due to the zinc sacrificing itself to protect the base metal.
